The art and craft of sewing is one that many people associated with making traditional items such as quilts, clothing, furniture covers and even bedding. You can also use sewing as a way to create some truly unique items that are ideal for showcasing in your home or even giving as handmade gifts to others.

One way to use sewing to add a touch of style to an ordinary object is to take basic pillows and transform them in to works of art; simply by adding the right stitches in the right mix of colors. This can create truly customized pieces that can be made to coordinate with any couch, chair or even bedding set.

Though sewing is associated with making clothing, you can use the craft of sewing to take personalizing clothing items on step farther. By sewing names, designs and patterns on to clothing items not typically embroidered or sewed by hand, you can make traditional items look brand new and unique.
